The easy-care Pothos Jade, Epipremnum aureum Jade, is noted for having tear-shaped leaves that cascade over sides of planters—unless you train it to climb, of course, in which case it will happily wind around a trellis, stake, or moss pole. You can care for this variety by keeping it in bright indirect light, such as by a south- or north-facing window, though it also tolerates lower light levels; regularly gently trimming it back with sterile scissors; and watering it when the top half of its soil is dry, being sure to discard the excess water to avoid waterlogging. (Distilled water is typically recommended over tap water, as pothos are quite sensitive.) Like all plants in this genus, the Jade is a great air purifier, on NASA’s list of clean-air plants. A French Polynesian native, it is somewhat wind-resistant and so is happy to live outside, in regions with warmer climates, as well as indoors.
