Plant Bio
The Monstera Ginny, Rhaphidophora tetrasperma, features small, fenestrated leaves—that’s a fancy way of saying they appear to have pieces taken out of them, similar to what you would see in the larger (and distantly related) Monstera deliciosa. The aroid climbs rainforest trees in its native habitat of southern Thailand and peninsular Malaysia and you can encourage vertical growth by providing it with a trellis or moss pole indoors. It also benefits from medium or bright indirect light and water that has been filtered or left out overnight. One of the most expensive houseplant ever sold was an unusual, Monstera Ginny featuring green and white variegation, which sold for $19,000 on an auction site in New Zealand.
